The Hague Municipal Office

‘Spaciousness, construction and installation technology are optimally attuned to one another,’ the architect says.

THE HAGUE – A new triangular structure in The Hague, The , is an unmistakable landmark for the city, housing a municipal office, meeting centre, library and 49 apartments.

‘It has an autonomous form but flows with the existing buildings in its colouring and situation,’ says architect Rudy Uytenhaak. ‘It represents a new interpretation of the original light and “modern” architectural heritage.’

With a robust exterior form, the structure is topped with a massive triangular peak. Above the atrium roof, the building unfolds around the triangular atrium. The uppermost nine levels house private apartments.

The offices are located in Leyweg, an area of The Hague, which is being redeveloped to give it a more dynamic atmosphere. The goal is to create a small open ‘city within a city,’ with free-standing buildings placed like ships throughout.
