In Copenhagen, Denmark, a 1700-sq-m retail store has been dubbed the ‘Most Innovative Store’ award at Denmark Global Innovation Awards.
The flagship shop is located in a former cinema, boasting high ceilings with an open concept. While the Normann store was opened in 2005, it has a unique concept: every night, its directors design a new window display.
‘We want to be an ongoing source of inspiration for our visitors, 24-7,’ says retail director Peter Elmegaard. ‘The experiential side of the old cinema has been preserved, and exhibitions and events provide the platform for extraordinary design experiences.’
The was initiated in 1999; it’s a housewares award program that selects retail and manufacturer projects worldwide. The Normann Copenhagen shop has won the top award for Denmark and will compete against 20 winners from five continents for the overall top prize at the in Chicago, USA (10-13 March, 2012).
