Have you ever wanted to know what it feels like to walk on air? Now you can walk on at least 90% air while wearing 's pair of high heels: Meteorite Shoes. In the project for Microsoft, architect Azusa Murakami and artist Alexander Groves further explore their material experiments from their recent cabinet Metallic Geology. The duo injects a small amount of the molten metal with gassing agents which then expands into a lightweight and structurally efficient volume. To transform the blocks into wearable footwear, they 3D scan and then CNC mill the unique shapes with traditional shoemaking techniques. Following their research on comets and meteorites, the result is a set of stylish space rocks with a texture similar to pumice stone.
