St-W store

In April 2014, St-W Publishers and joined forces to generate a temporary, creative centre in the historic Felix Meritis building.

The pop-up creative platform opened its doors and enlivened the monumental Felix Meritis residence at Keizersgracht 324 in Amsterdam for six months. The space hosted numerous events and exhibitions organized by both St-W and Foam. Alongside the events, St-W Publishers created two retail spaces – conceived by local outfit – with a focus on fashion and design. The monumentality of Zuilenzaal – an attraction in itself – was heightened through i29’s intervention. Transforming the space into a mirrored universe, the award-winning designers elevated and reflected its grandeur.

Opened in October 2014, a NEW St-W store located at Herengracht 178, continues its initial mission as a three-dimensional experience of the magazine – a creative and innovative universe that surprises and inspires. The world of St-W shows what good design can do, and is a celebration of beauty, functionality and accessibility through timeless products. The St-W store will stage new talents, new products and new brands from various genres. Fashion, art and design sit alongside media, beauty and food. A range of homewares will also be available.

In addition to the recognition they receive through St-W Publishers’ events and media channels, emerging talents now have a physical space to exhibit their work. The store will premiere the creations of young Dutch lingerie designer Tisja Damen and present products by Lex Pott. Alongside work by up-and-comers, the St-W store offers merchandise by more
established names and brands. These ‘essentials’ – from the likes of John Smedley, Mismo, Flos and Artek – form the basis of the store.

The interior of the canal-side store is just as inspiring as its innovative products. The St-W Store offers a sensory experience through spatial installations, diverse product ranges and undiscovered brands. The space will host a range of events – from exhibition launches to inspiring lectures. No St-W shop would be complete without books and magazines from St-W Publishers’ own collection. The project can be seen as a mini department store, embracing all the creative disciplines that the publishing house covers.
